1 Timothy 1

Our speaker during Family Bible Hour was Mr Steve Witter of Emmaus Bible College. It is always a pleasure to have him visit. His message was based on 1 Timothy 1:

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
 ²Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
 ³As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
 ⁴Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
 ⁵Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
 ⁶From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
 ⁷Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
 ⁸But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
 ⁹Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
 ¹⁰For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
 ¹¹According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
 ¹²And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
 ¹³Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
 ¹⁴And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
 ¹⁵This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
 ¹⁶Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
 ¹⁷Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
 ¹⁸This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
 ¹⁹Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
 ²⁰Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme

John 6

Our speaker during Family Bible Hour was Mr Steve Modrzejewski. His message was based on John 6:1-14  --

After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.
 ²And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
 ³And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
 ⁴And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
 ⁵When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
 ⁶And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
 ⁷Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
 ⁸One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
 ⁹There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
 ¹⁰And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
 ¹¹And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
 ¹²When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
 ¹³Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
 ¹⁴Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

Today is Mother's Day, and the above passage bears the thumb print of a caring and loving mother in the life of a little boy. We must all be like that young lad, someone willing to share what he had to accomplish God's work that He might be glorified.  We must also remember the opportunities of the 4-14 window: the age when an individual is most likely to make a decision to follow Jesus Christ. Judges 6

And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds...
And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.
And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites,
That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;
And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land;
And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice...

It was a difficult time for the Israelites as they were reaping the consequence of their disobedience to God. But God still sees their potential, God still wants and waits for their worship, and God is still with them as they obey Him.
